Part 1 – Hello world and welcome!
I have delayed starting my blog for a number years now. My ideas have centred around topics such as hair and beauty, alternative medicine, fashion and my everlasting love affair with international travel. Including my beautiful island in the sun ‘Sweet Jamaica’. The thought even crossed my mind of channelling my inner ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ and talking relationships versus the single life of a woman in her thirties…the list has been endless!
As you can probably tell I have had an interesting life full of many fun, exciting and challenging experiences with many lessons learned along the way. I’m a natural storyteller and my friends and family alike always look forward to what I’m going to share with them next. This is where my blog has significance…I would like to take my storytelling to the next level and share my stories with a wider audience, with you!
My thirties, my intuition, my calling
My thirties couldn’t be further from what I imagined my life to be when I use to wonder what my future would entail as a teenager and in my twenties for that matter. So far it has been a huge adventure and one of the things I have learned during this time is to listen to my inner voice, my guidance, my intuition – it has never failed me. Only when I’ve chosen to ignore it!
So this time I’m going to trust the timing of my life – it is time for me to write, wholeheartedly share and to be an inspiration to you all – spreading my positive energy and zest for life! If there is one thing, just one thing that I can achieve from writing this blog, it would be to touch as many lives as possible!
My story – my blog
I’m going to take you on a journey of the past 12 months of my life and throw some other life stories into the mix too.
My story starts at the beginning of my 36th year before suffering from a life-threatening brain aneurysm. I have set the scene of my life in my first seven posts so that you can get to know me and understand what my life was like before my illness. This will help you to understand the person I truly am, the person before my illness and more importantly understand the impact this health condition has had on my life, as well as the realisation of how life as you know it can change as quickly as the flick of a switch.
I will then proceed to take you on a journey of what happened to me as a result of my illness; physically, mentally and emotionally. Along with so many other aspects of my life that have been affected as a result, including my elevated outlook on the true meaning of what it means to be alive.
You do not have to have experience of the same life events as me to relate to some of the challenges and situations I have recently faced in my life. However, anyone who is recovering from a serious illness or a traumatic life experience will certainly find my blog both relatable and useful.
My life over the past 12 months has been far from a smooth ride, it has been a bumpy one with both highs and lows along the way. Yes, I can find some highs even in the toughest of situations. I’ve always been a cup half full kind of girl! I’d like to show you how I managed to find light even in the darkest of moments. And how the simple act of gratitude can be a saviour in getting you through each day – it will most certainly be worth the read.
Welcome to My Blooming Brain
So if I’ve managed to command your attention this far…in a world where attention spans are ever declining, I’d like to give you a virtual high five!!
Well done and welcome to My Blooming Brain blog. I’m so excited and looking forward to sharing my story with you.January 17, 2018 7:30 pm
